I stand in solidarity with members of the WASPI campaign calling for state pension justice.

I have read a briefing on this campaign and I share the concerns raised by the WASPI women that the accelerated timescale in the Pensions Act 2011 produced considerable hardship for many women. We need to ensure that women affected by the state pension equalisation have security in older age.

Labour will deliver a pensions system that ensures dignity in retirement, and is a proper reflection of the contribution that older people have made, and continue to make, to our society.

I would like to assure my constituents that I will follow developments on this matter closely and I will continue to do what I can to support women born in the 1950’s to receive the fair and fast compensation they deserve..
