Westminster Goes Green
Westminster Goes Green
On Wednesday 3rd February, in a Westminster Hall Debate, my colleague Luke Pollard MP raised the issue of the bee-killing pesticides, particularly neonicotinoids, being used in the UK.
Bees are vital for our ecosystem.  However, the Tories have continued to authorise this bee-killing pesticide to be used, disregarding the known fact that it harms bees and other pollinators, as well as polluting our waterways.
I was delighted to highlight the importance of bees in urban areas, too. Urban areas have higher biodiversity, which is important in maintaining bee health.  Also, supporting bees and pollinators in urban areas will help to provide locally grown food, which means better local food production and healthier pollinators.
