On 21 May, I held a coffee morning at the Pakistani Centre in Longsight. The meeting, organised jointly with the Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit, was to discuss issues related to Immigration and Asylum – including Home Office delays, the Windrush Scandal and the Borders and Immigration Act.

Over 70 constituents came, and we heard some shocking testimony from those with recent lived-experience of the immigration system. As an immigrant who came to this country as a child, this issue is close to my heart and that of many of my constituents.

Thank you to all those that came to take part, as well as my staff and Fatou from Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit.

Look out for my next coffee morning in June!
