This week I attended the GMB and Uber Parliamentary Reception to hear more about their historic deal, the first in the gig economy to give 70,000 workers union representation. Speakers included Mick Rix, GMB National Officer and Jamie Heywood, Uber’s UK, Northern and Eastern Europe General Manager.

Thanks to the GMB, Uber are the only major operator in the UK to give all of its drivers holiday pay, pensions and guaranteed earnings. But this must be the first step in creating a fairer working life for all drivers across the sector.
