Protesting the charter flights
Protesting the charter flights

The Government’s intention to go ahead with a deportation flight to Jamaica on the 2nd December is deeply concerning. I, along with the many constituents who have written to me over the last couple of days, am extremely concerned to learn of the Home Office’s intention to go ahead with a deportation charter flight to Jamaica on 2 December. I understand a number of those due to be deported are resident in Manchester, and some have lived in the UK since they were children.

It is dangerous and wrong for the Home Office to continue with deportations during this pandemic.

This deportation flight is particularly galling in light of the fact that the Home Office was this week found to have broken equalities law in pursuing its racist and discriminatory hostile environment policies.

I urge the Home Office and the Home Secretary to reconsider allowing this flight, and any others, to go ahead at this time.
