Hajj and Eid al-Adha Mubarak to all my constituents who celebrate!
It was an honour to join so many fellow Muslims from across Manchester in Platt Fields Park in Fallowfield for Eid prayers. Platt Fields Park is at the heart of Manchester’s South Asian community, adjacent to the historic Curry Mile, Moss Side, Rusholme and Longsight. Over 25,000 people attended from across all ages and backgrounds. Eid in the Park has now become a regular feature of the Park’s calendar and is the largest event of its kind in the North West. I’m proud that it takes place in my constituency.
I joined Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party, visiting the al-Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre in Kensington to catch up with their Eid preparations. Al-Mannar is a truly beautiful masjid, and members gave such a warm welcome to Keir and I. You can watch our video below.
An absolute pleasure to visit @almanaar with @Keir_Starmer for Eid Al Adha.
The Al Manaar Centre embodies the true spirit of equality, caring for others & charity.
On behalf of the Labour Party, I want to wish the Muslim community a very blessed Eid & Hajj Mubarak.#EidAlAdha pic.twitter.com/VAlr2u8EMO

Following Labour’s historic victory in Westminster City Council this May, Hamza Taouzzale became Westminster’s first BAME, first Muslim and at 22, the youngest Lord Mayor. Hamza invited me to an Eid reception at Westminster City Hall on Victoria Street. Hamza is a talented young man, and I look forward to following his career closely.
What a treat to celebrate Eid at @CityWestminster!
Thank you to @Hamza_Taouzzale, for hosting such a special event, which celebrates our rich diversity.
