Afzal visiting a COVID-19 Vaccine Site

It’s been heartening to see the first vaccination sites opening up across Manchester and I’ve been lucky enough to visit some of those which have opened here in Manchester Gorton. A huge amount of work has gone into this operation and I give my heartfelt thanks to all the front line NHS staff, pharmacy staff, and volunteers who have worked around the clock to get these community vaccination sites up and running.

Our brilliant NHS is working tirelessly to get everyone vaccinated and I am in awe of the professionalism and dedication shown by the staff and volunteers I’ve met during my visits.

I’d like to reassure people that when it is your turn to receive the vaccine, your local GP will contact you. If you haven’t had the vaccine yet and are in one of the vulnerable groups, please continue to be patient. This vaccine will help us beat COVID-19, but there’s lots of disinformation out there about vaccines. We all have the responsibility to make sure we only share accurate information on social media, including WhatsApp.

Vaccinating Britain will take a huge national effort but I am confident that by working together and following the rules, we will achieve our goal.
