UNISON Community Vigil
UNISON Community Vigil

Greater Manchester Citizens, UNISON and Care Workers for Change organised a community vigil outside Bupa Gorton Parks Care home this month. I joined UNISON members, councillors, faith groups and local community members to stand in solidarity with care workers and to call on Bupa to pay a real living wage.

Social care is a vital public service and both care workers and patients deserve dignity in social care. It is only right that the staff who care for vulnerable people are paid a decent living wage. Bupa makes millions of pounds in profits every year and they can afford to pay their staff more. We all hope that they will commit to paying their staff a real living wage. I raised the issue of social care in Manchester in my first PMQ’s and is an issue I know matters to the people of Manchester Gorton.
