The Government is changing the way BRP and BRC cards are issued – from 31st October 2024, all new cards (including replacement lost or stolen cards) will be replaced with electronic visas (e-visas).
No new physical cards will be issued from the Home Office now, but e-visas will be issued instead. E-visas contain all of the information on a person’s immigration status in one place including residency status, right to work and your share code (if relevant).
This will not change your immigration rights or status, it will just mean that all of the information is available in one place digitally, in your online e-visa account.
You can watch a short video to tell you more about an e-visa and how to apply here
The Home Office will require you to create an e-visa account. This is really simple to do via an online form on the Home Office website found here.
The Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit is also offering free support in setting up this account, as well as up-to-date information. You can get support from them here.
