The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic over eighteen months ago dramatically changed all of our lives. It has been a devastating time, with loved ones being lost too soon, businesses closing their doors, and children missing out on critical time in school.
The vaccination programme, which launched towards the end of last year, has been a mammoth task but is slowly allowing our lives to return to some kind of normality.
Amazingly, we have now surpassed 90 million administered doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
But the success of this programme would not have been possible without the tireless hard work of frontline staff and volunteers up and down the country, and here in Manchester Gorton.
Staff and volunteers have reassured and encouraged those who were hesitant to get the jab, ferried people back and forth from vaccine clinics, and have administered the vaccine to millions.
That’s why I want to celebrate all of Manchester Gorton’s Vaccine Heroes who have supported the huge effort to #VaccinateBritain
