π¨ COVID-19 UPDATE π¨
As I am sure you have seen in the news, the Government has introduced new restrictions. Greater Manchester is now in π§πΆπ²πΏ π―: π©π²πΏπ ππΆπ΄π΅.
From midnight last night π‘ππͺ π₯ππ¦π§π₯πππ§ππ’π‘π¦ came into place with large fines for breaking the new laws. They mean:
ππΎ People are banned from meeting anyone who is not in their household (ie people they live with under one roof) or bubble, in most situations. This now includes private gardens. This is against the law.
ππΎ People can meet up outdoors in parks, public gardens or sports courts providing they follow the Rule of Six Rule of six means no more than 6 people can gather together (unless they live together), with social distancing. Meeting in larger groups is against the law.
ππΎ Restaurants can remain open, but pubs and bars must close. Alcohol can only be served with a substanial meal. Gyms, sports centres, hairdressers and cinemas can also carry on operating in a Covid-secure way. Nightclubs will not be open.
ππΎ Shops and retail will remain open.
ππΎ Schools, FE colleges and universities, as well as registered childcare and youth provision can remain open. Childcare bubbles for under fourteens are permitted.
ππΎ Residential care-homes remain closed to visitors unless under exceptional circumstances.
ππΎ Alongside these measures, rules around the wearing of face masks are still in effect. You should continue to follow social distancing rules and regularly wash your hands.
You can see the full set of restrictions on the gov.uk website, and you can keep up to date with the local situation at manchester.gov.uk/coronavirus
I know these restrictions are frustrating, but you must follow the guidelines and the law to keep yourself, your family and friends safe.
